STEPHEN L. SANETTI

Steve Sanetti, the owner of Arms Appraisals LLC, has a lifetime of experience in collecting and using firearms, and has spent 41 years in the firearms industry. He was president of the Virginia Military institute Rifle & Pistol Club, and member and coach of its rifle team. At VMI, he was an Assistant Conservator at the George C. Marshall Library Museum. He has a Juris Doctor degree from the Washington & Lee University School of Law. 

He has served as the President and Chief Operating Officer of Sturm, Ruger & Co., Inc, the nation’s largest firearms manufacturer; President and CEO of the National Shooting Sports Foundation (NSSF), the American firearms industry’s trade association; and President and CEO of the Sporting Arms & Ammunition Manufacturers institute (SAAMI), the firearms industry’s standards setting organization. He has been a Technical Advisor to the Association of Firearms & Toolmark Examiners (AFTE) since 1984. He received the Shooting Industry Academy of Excellence Award in 2004, and Lifetime Achievement Awards from both NSSF and the National Association of Sporting Goods Wholesalers in 2019.

He is presently a member of the Firearms Advisory Board at the Cody Firearms Museum and a volunteer Historic Interpreter at the Springfield Armory Museum. He is also a member of Ye Connecticut Gun Guild, The Ruger Collectors Association, and was appointed by the Governor of Connecticut to serve on its Firearms Permit Review Board in 2021.

He is a candidate member of the American Society of Appraisers and has successfully completed the Principles of Valuation Courses for Personal Property Appraisers conducted by that professional organization.
